Before Sex and the City: The Carrie Diaries

Looking for a show with romance, cute fashion, and dreamy boys? Then you must check out The CW’s “The Carrie Diaries.”

Although it’s in its second season, we all know with winter break comes hours and hours of binge-watching shows.

This year, I had a list of shows I was (and still am) determined to finish that includes Scandal, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Revenge... But as of Monday, I can cross off “The Carrie Diaries.”

The show, piloted in 2012, takes us through Carrie Bradshaw’s life before she landed in the city permanently (otherwise known as Sex and the City). Based on the books by Candace Bushnell, the lovely AnnaSophia Robb stars as Carrie.

Set in 1984, where the fashion revolves around bright colors and wild prints, the lingo is groovy and the people are experimental, Bradshaw is a junior at Castlebury High in New York. After her mother passes away from cancer, her father scores her an internship in the city to get away from school one day a week. From here, it all goes uphill...mostly.

In season one Bradshaw, in order: visits her one love, experiences her first love, and discovers her true calling.

Sebastian Kydd, writing and fashion, and Manhattan, respectively.

Carrie Bradshaw isn’t the most popular girl in school, but she makes a name for herself by following her dreams and making things happen. She knows what she wants and she gets it. Albeit getting there is usually a struggle...

But hey, not everything can come to us as easily as a free pair of designer shoes after a fashion shoot, right?
