Matthew makes his way above the Mole mound

As I painted my nails and one of my roommates crocheted (we sound like old ladies, I know) we finished listening to John Mayer’s new album “Paradise Valley” and picked something just as mellow to listen to.

She played the first song of a new album and at first I thought it was Andrew Belle, or maybe even Mumford and Sons, but this artist had an accent I knew I hadn’t heard before.

Anyways, I asked who the brilliant singer was and my roommate told me “Matthew Mole.” I had never heard the name, but after a few songs I instantly deemed him as one of my new favorite artists.

I wondered why I hadn’t heard of him before, and after doing a little bit of research I found that he is very new in the music world; he released his first album “The Home We Built” on July 29 of this year. An extended play (EP) of four songs came out in December last year, which was when he made his debut.

Listed under the “alternative folk” genre on iTunes, the music is just that and truly can’t be described any other way. His lyrics, on the other hand, are beautifully written and full of love.

Take Yours, I'll Take Mine

It's Simple Child

This Capetonian has certainly proved his musical capabilities with his first album and one can only hope that his future albums are just as good and not just beginners’ luck.

Check Matthew Mole out on iTunes or SoundCloud as there are not many videos of him on YouTube yet.
