Welcome to The Neighbourhood

Popular for their hit “Sweater Weather,” I think The Neighbourhood will be the next big name in alternative rock.

Before this past weekend I’d heard their single on the “Today’s Hits” Pandora station a number of times but didn’t give much thought to the band’s name. When one of my roommates told me about a free concert held on campus last Saturday, I asked what band was playing and none of my roommates or I had knowingly heard of them before. We looked them up on YouTube and I recognized their sound. After just one listen, I was hooked.

This California-based group sounds similar to the likes of Imagine Dragons and Grouplove with their indie sound and somewhat depressing lyrics about heartbreaks, young love and adventures.

In April of this year they released their first album I Love You, making it onto the Billboard charts at number 39.

With the help of similar tours like the one they made on the Mizzou campus this past weekend, their enthusiasm, great live performance, and charm will undoubtedly win over the whole neighborhood, and soon enough the whole alternative/Indie audience.
