The College Freshman Phases
For all of the incoming college freshmen (and nostalgic freshmen) these phases in life will most likely happen to you. So why not take a glimpse into your future before you take that leap into quasi-adulthood?

The New Freshman: You’ve just thrown your cap in the air and can take on the world. You have the whole summer to hang out with friends and buy cute dorm things and Pin every microwave recipe you can find. You are ready.

The End-of-the-Summer Freshman: Excuse me time, but where have you gone? You hung out with some of those promises in the graduation book, but honestly, you wanted to spend your free last moments with your mom and your dog. Everything is packed up and ready to go. It’s real. And a little scary that “college” is no longer just a vague concept.

The *OFFICIAL* Freshman: Your parents have left and you’ve shed your tears. Your roommate is pretty cool and you decide to go to Freshman orientation together. Your dorm floor bonds that night and you all agree to go out together. Things are looking up.

The I-need-to-find-my-niche Freshman: You have found some people to go out with at night (a lot from your high school) and you’re wondering if you should branch out. Branching out is hard.

The I’ve-got-my-bffs-for-life Freshman: You’ve found your weirdos that you call friends and you’re suddenly doing everything with them. You’re planning on being each other’s bridesmaids.

The winter-break Freshman: Now you’re home for an extended amount of time and still not really meeting up with your friends from high school. Your mom cooks you any food you want. You watch all 6 seasons of Gossip Girl. You read ten books. You become a hermit.

The second-semester Freshman: Going back to school? Piece of cake. You’ve actually missed that little tiny room that you live in including all of your friends. It’s snowing outside constantly so you spend most of your free time indoors. Your Netflix addiction only grows stronger. Along with your laziness.

The comfortable Freshman: You and your besties prefer spending time watching E! News in pajamas rather than going out. Your biggest hike? Checking to see if Country Strong is in Redbox. It’s not. So you buy it on iTunes for $15.

The inspired Freshman: It’s almost the end of the year and you’re ready to get back to work. The sun is shining and you can finally sit outside and do homework. You and your besties make a work-out pact and keep at it for… a while.

The frazzled Freshman: Finals are quickly approaching and your parents have been taking loads of your belongings home for the past two weekends in preparation for move-out day. You find out that One Direction is your studying band (don’t know how that one happened) and you’ve stocked up on caffeine to keep you awake until the wee hours of the morning. These five finals should be fine.

The nostalgic Freshman: YOU MADE IT! Your friends are all moving out and you all make plans for next year to be the best one yet. You’re going to miss this place for the three months, but then you think about seeing your dog and eating good food again and you’re all right again. Until next time, college.
